Healthcare Working Group
12 February 2026 | 10:00 - 12:00
The 5GSC Healthcare Working Group held on 12 February 2026, brought together leading experts who built on the recommendations presented at the 5G Community Conference and explored healthcare project blueprints and sustainable business plans beyond CEF funding by focusing on innovative healthcare use cases enabled by advanced connectivity, and featured keynote contributions addressing immersive technologies, their application in clinical care and education, and digital-twin projects.
Moderated by Ioannis Patsouras (WINGS ICT Solutions), the session featured four keynote speeches which topics ranged from the presentation of a CEF funding recently awarded project, how to power the future of healthcare through connectivity, surgical collaboration in the age of spatial computing and 5G, and the present and future of women's health in Europe.
The open discussion, chaired by Ioannis Patsouras (WINGS ICT Solutions), and co-chaired by Fredrik Engströmer(Region Stockholm) delved into healthcare digital innovations, challenges and next steps. The audience was invited to actively take part to the conversation, including by contributing to a Slido poll.

Subgroup devices, sensors and IoT for 5G use cases
24 February 2026 | 14:00 - 15:00
As a follow-up to the discussions within the healthcare vertical, a dedicated sub-group on Devices, Sensors and IoT focused on 5G use cases was planned.
This working session brought together CEF Digital projects across all sectors - not limited to healthcare - to exchange practical insights on the deployment and use of connected devices, sensors, and IoT components within their 5G infrastructures.
Objectives
The sub-group had two primary goals:
-
Mapping current deployment and needs: Collect structured input from participating projects regarding the devices and sensors currently in use, as well as outstanding technical, operational, or procurement needs.
-
Supporting strategic engagement ahead of MWC Barcelona: By gathering this intelligence in advance of Mobile World Congress, participating projects were better positioned to engage with relevant device manufacturers and ecosystem actors.
